about us

Serving Bridgetown since 1949
  • In 1949 the hardware store was 1200 sq ft and was called Fehring Hardware.

  • In 1953, the store was sold to Jack Volk.  After leaving the hardware business to play drums for the Paul Dixon Show the store was sold to the Runtz family in 1959.

  • They sold to Dick Schildmeyer in 1964 who sold to Irv Cook, who sold to Dave Hoerst who sold to the Meyer family in 1985.

  • In 1989 the first major change is made when the store doubles in size.

  • The store was sold to the current owners Doug & Denise Lindle in 1998.

  • In 2000 the store again grows to three times it's original size.

  • In 2001 the store is brought into the 21st century with up to date computers for pricing, inventory and paint color matching.

  • Now in 2005 we have changed the name to Houseworks, and created a website. Our vision is to build a 10,000 sq ft facility, with up to date paint, hardware, lawn & garden and contractor centers.

  • 2011... the vision continues! Check back as the story unfolds.
